Enterprise Vault server (if the client supports searching on an IMAP server). IMAP Access Architecture Overview Any existing Enterprise Vault server can be enabled for IMAP Access. Hello, I provide Help Desk support for a university. We are using the EV client for users with Outlook and integrate it with our Outlook webmail feature, but we don't deploy it to users with Macs using Entourage. The Veritas Enterprise Vault 12.x: Administration I course is designed for system administrators tasked with operating, integrating, and monitoring the day-to-day performance of Enterprise Vault within a Microsoft Exchange environment. And so does not work. I did call Symantec Anyone know where I can find an EV agent for Mac Outlook 2011? Home > Security > Symantec. Security updates
Updated versions of third party software used by Enterprise Vault
Enterprise Vault 12.2.1 contains a number of security enhancements and improvements. Veritas strongly recommends that customers install the latest Enterprise Vault release update.
Enterprise Vault server
Users could not move items from Virtual Vault into their Exchange mailbox [CFT-213]
Users were unable to move items from Virtual Vault to their Exchange mailbox, if both of the following Outlook add-ins were installed:
- Enterprise Vault Outlook Add-In
- Outlook add-in for HPE SecureMail Cloud (formerly known as Voltage SecureMail)
This has been fixed.
EVSVR Repair ArchivesDirectory operation would fail to repair the database records of certain archives that had been marked as Shared [CFT-427]
When both of the following conditions applied, the EVSVR operation Repair ArchivesDirectory would fail to recreate the missing database records for an archive:
- In the Enterprise Vault Directory database, the archive's record was missing from the Archive table, but the corresponding record in the Root table did exist.
- In the vault store database, the archive had been marked as a Shared archive rather than an Exchange Mailbox archive.
The EVSVR output log file would typically report the issue as follows:
This has been fixed.
EVSVR Repair DatabaseReferences operation would prematurely abandon attempts to process savesets that it was temporarily unable to access [CFT-467]
When the EVSVR operation Repair DatabaseReferences tried to process a saveset (
.dvs
) file that it was temporarily unable to access, it would abandon the operation at the first attempt instead of making repeated attempts to access the file. The issue typically arose when another process was accessing the file at the same time. This has been fixed.
Exchange server archiving
SearchFolderManager tool failed to process mailboxes [CFT-505]
If Outlook 2016 was installed on the Enterprise Vault server, the SearchFolderManager tool failed to process any mailbox.
This has been fixed.
Journaling failed to process messages from users with an apostrophe in their email alias [CFT-568]
When a journal report for a message sent by a user with an apostrophe in their email alias was received, the journal task failed to process the journal report and logged event ID 3433.
Veritas Enterprise Vault Outlook Add In
This has been fixed.
Domino server archiving
Dynamic links in MIME item shortcuts failed to open attachments, or opened the wrong attachment [CFT-283]
When you used the dynamic link in a shortcut to open a MIME item attachment, 'Object variable not set' was displayed, and the attachment failed to open. In addition, when a MIME item had multiple attachments, the dynamic link in the shortcut may have opened the wrong attachment.
This issue has been fixed, so that the archiving task creates dynamic links that open the correct attachment on MIME items. In existing shortcuts, faulty dynamic links will return the user to the original shortcut, and the following advice will appear in the status bar:
There was a problem retrieving the attachment with that link. Open the original item to retrieve this attachment
.File System Archiving
Enterprise Vault failed to delete archived items when placeholders were deleted on NetApp C-Mode Vservers [CFT-172]
When a Windows 8 or Windows 10 file server was used to delete placeholders on NetApp C-Mode Vservers, Enterprise Vault failed to delete the corresponding archived items.
This has been fixed.
FSAUtility sometimes deleted shortcuts of files containing a tilde (~) in the file name [CFT-442]
When performing a bulk recall operation, FSAUtility sometimes deleted placeholders of files containing a tilde (~) in the file name. Enterprise Vault logged event ID 41145 when this occurred.
This has been fixed.
File server shares became unresponsive [CFT-70]
When using File System Archiving, shares on a particular file server sometimes became unresponsive.
This has been fixed.
SharePoint server archiving
Filenames of archived SharePoint files were sometimes changed when the filename contained non-ASCII characters [CFT-215]
When users downloaded an archived item from SharePoint using Internet Explorer or Edge, and that item had a filename containing non-ASCII characters, the filename was changed to include random characters. Note that the filenames did not change if the files were accessed in other ways, even if the filenames contained non-ASCII characters.
This has been fixed.
Vault Administration Console did not let you add a SharePoint target with a secure (https) URL [CFT-501]
Symantec Enterprise Vault Client Download
The Vault Administration Console would display the following error message if you tried to add a SharePoint archiving target whose URL began with
https
rather than http
:This has been fixed.
When Office Online Server was installed, users with read-only access to SharePoint 2016 libraries could not open Office documents [CFT-511]
In environments where you installed Office Online Server, users with read-only access to a SharePoint 2016 document library would receive the following error message when they tried to open Office documents:
This has been fixed.
Enterprise Vault Outlook Add-In
With the Enterprise Vault Outlook Add-In installed, the 'Click here to view more on Microsoft Exchange' link was sometimes missing [CFT-145]
Outlook sometimes used the state of the Enterprise Vault Add-In's connection to the Exchange Server to indicate whether Outlook had a connection. If this happened, and the Add-In had disconnected, then Outlook would not show the link to view more on the Exchange Server.
This has been fixed.
Users could not access archived emails after installing Microsoft Security Updates for Outlook [CFT-559]
Users could not access archived emails using the Enterprise Vault Outlook Add-In after they installed one of the following Microsoft Security Updates:
- KB4011089 for Outlook 2010
- KB4011090 for Outlook 2013
- KB4011091 for Outlook 2016
This has been fixed.
Enterprise Vault Client for Mac OS X
While the Reminders window in Outlook for Mac was open, you could not perform Enterprise Vault operations on archived messages [CFT-84]
While the Reminders window was open, you would receive the following message after you selected any archived message in Outlook for Mac and then used the facilities on the Enterprise Vault toolbar or menu to view, forward, or perform other operations on the message:
This has been fixed.
Compliance Accelerator
Compliance Accelerator would generate blank 'Evidence of Review by Employee' reports for exception employees [CFT-153]
If the employee for whom you chose to generate an 'Evidence of Review by Employee' report was an exception employee, the resulting report would be blank.
This has been fixed.
When you conducted multiple guaranteed sample searches, some would occasionally return fewer results than expected [CFT-445]
Symantec Enterprise Vault Client
If you configured multiple guaranteed sample searches, some would occasionally return fewer results than expected. For example, if your monitoring policy required you to sample 10% of items, a search that captured 1000 items might sometimes sample just 80 of them rather than the expected 100.
This has been fixed.
When reviewing the items in a research folder, you could not delete items after you had viewed their histories [CFT-64]
The following message would appear in the Review pane of the Compliance Accelerator client, if you tried to delete an item from a research folder after you had viewed the history of the item:
This has been fixed.
Discovery Accelerator
Errors when creating a search based on an existing search in which multiple custodians with the same display name were nominated [CFT-63]
The following error message would sometimes appear in the Discovery Accelerator client when you created a search that was based on another search in which you had nominated multiple custodians in the Custom attributes section:
This issue arose if, when you defined the criteria for the original search, you used the Targets and custodians options in the Custom attributes section to select multiple custodians with the same display name.
This has been fixed.
When reviewing the items in a research folder, you could not delete items after you had viewed their histories [CFT-64]
The following message would appear in the Review pane of the Discovery Accelerator client, if you tried to delete an item from a research folder after you had viewed the history of the item:
This has been fixed.
